Har Ki Dun Trek sits within the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park. Situated in the Himalayas, this journey offers magnificent beauty, a refreshing atmosphere, and lush green meadows. Har Ki Dun Trek is often referred to as the “Valley of Gods.” It sits at an altitude of 11,958 feet (3,645 m) and follows a historic route that is over 500 years old.
According to the account from the Mahabharata epic, this valley was formerly a part of King Duryodhana’s kingdom. Locals also think that in their later years, the Pandavas walked through this valley on their journey to Swargarohini Peak, believed to be the path to heaven. Thus, this valley came to be known as the “Gateway to Heaven”.As you go through the stunning alpine forests and calm meadows of Devsu Bugyal, the panoramic vistas of the mountain range open before you. Every step on the Har Ki Dun journey immerses you in its magnetic allure, leaving you enchanted by its splendour.
The Supin River is a fascinating centrepiece of this walk, bringing you along its gorgeous, enchanting trail with the relaxing rhythm of nature. At 7:00 am, get to the Dehradun Railway Station, which is where the Har Ki Dun Trek pickup point is. There, the Himalayan Hikers staff will meet you and tell you about the hike. Then we travel through the Garhwal hills to Sankri village, which is where we will set up camp for the Har Ki Dun Trek. The drive is very beautiful.
